What if...

No, I have not gone on a date yet. But, I have one set up for Sunday and one for next week. Do you smell that? I think it’s love in the air. That, or chocolate croissants. I’d be happy with either.

I am responding to a couple of questions that I did not address in my first blog post: “This is Real. This is me.” If you haven’t read it yet, then you probably should. I talked about what it was like to date a Hemsworth and why I’ll NEVER do that again!!

(I said that so the people who didn’t read the first blog post will stop everything they’re doing and read it)

So, here are my answers to your questions - question and answer style (again)

“What if you meet “the one” on the first, second or twenty-fifth date? Will you stop this blog?”

I don’t want to start 2020 off with negative energy, but I can pretty much guarantee that the first date is going to be a bust. I say this because he suggested a hike. Like, what?! No, no, no sir. I am not a hiker. I love going on walks where there is asphalt and level ground, but hiking is not really my jam. When (or if) I am in love with a handsome outdoorsman who wants to go on a hike, I will entertain that idea because we all make sacrifices for love. But I don’t really want to go on a hike with some rando that wants to get me alone in the woods.

But to really answer this question, the blog will continue if I find someone. I will still go on 52 dates, they just might be with the same person. Then, you will be able to follow that journey. Maybe we will meet each other’s parents, maybe he will give me a gift (my shoe size is 7), or maybe we will breakup after he tells me he doesn’t like Napoleon Dynamite and thinks Cheeto is a stupid name for my future dog. Who knows? But, I am sure that no matter what happens, it will be interesting.

“Will the date know they are part of a social experiment or will it all be a ruse?”

To be honest, I don’t think of this blog being a social experiment or a ruse. I am genuine in my search for love and I honestly hope it works out for me. If the question is asking whether or not the dates will know that I am writing about our experience, then the answer is… I don’t know. I have asked my friends and family about their opinions on this question and I have gotten different feedback. Many people say things like: “this is your life, Isabel. As long as you don’t reveal their names then you are fine. You do you, homegirl.” Other people have said, “You’re a varmint and if you don’t tell these guys then you should be buried in a shallow grave” or something to that extent.

I decided to ask one of my dates and he said “I don’t care if you write about it.” Cool dude! So, I might tell people about the blog and I might not tell them. I will feel it out. The main reason I am hesitant to tell guys about the blog is because I don’t want that topic to dominate the conversation. Sure, I am going into these dates knowing that I have to write about them afterward, which might take me out of the date a little, but I am going to do my best to stay in the moment. I will not be taking notes on my phone or a pocket journal every time he looks away or goes to the bathroom. I will just try my best to remember what happened after the fact.

"Are you taking applications?"

This is the most flattering question I have ever received. So, thank you to the four people that have asked. If you would like to go on a date with me, please fill out the form on the “Contact” page. Again, I am flattered and shocked that people are reaching out and wanting to go on dates with a girl that knits on Friday nights and doesn’t like sand!

Lastly, thank you to everyone who has subscribed, followed Date a Week LA on Instagram or reached out to me. I am so appreciative of the support.

Now, let’s do this thing!
